10 Surprising Benefits of SureSmile

Everyone wants a straight smile, but are braces worth it? This dilemma started in 1819 when Christophe Delabarre invented braces. While effective for the past 200 years, isn’t it time for an upgrade? If you agree, you’re not alone. At Summer Creek Dental, we believe in SureSmile- an invisible, sleek, removable 3D-printed aligner that can straighten your smile in record time. With state-of-the-art technology, we provide the highest quality of aligners with SureSmile in Humble, Texas! Here are ten surprising benefits of SureSmile that will leave you starstruck: SureSmile is Essentially Invisible. We create SureSmile from a transparent, flexible thermoplastic that gives stealth mode a whole new meaning. Unless you walk around with a billboard that says, “I’m wearing SureSmile!” people will hardly notice. Instead, they’ll see how straight your teeth are.  SureSmile is Removable. If your braces hurt, good luck! You’ll need to go to the dentist to get them adjusted. Not with SureSmile, as they slid on and off as easily. SureSmile needs to be worn 20-22 hours a day, but the convenience to remove them for special occasions is unmatched. SureSmile Needs Less Checkups. With braces, you’ll need to visit your dentist every four weeks to tighten your wires. Not with SureSmile! Instead, we provide you with all the plastic aligners you need. Ready for a tighter grade? Wear your next pair of aligners. As usual, this will be uncomfortable at first- but nowhere near as tightening wires. You’ll visit us every six weeks for a much shorter, more comfortable checkup.  SureSmile Improves Oral Hygiene. With SureSmile, you can remove your plastic aligners to brush, floss, and swish around mouthwash! Unlike braces, there are no wires to obstruct brushing and fewer places for oral bacteria to hide. Better hygiene capability= fewer cavities and periodontal concerns.  No Diet Restrictions. With braces, we would give you a list of foods to avoid: sticky foods, hard nuts, chewy substances, apples, pizza crusts, and more. Unless you enjoy double-checking everything you eat, SureSmile is the way to go! SureSmile offers you the same teeth-straightening results that traditional methods offer, with far fewer side effects. Feel free to eat whatever you like.  No Orthodontic Emergencies. With braces, it’s common to break a bracket or two. Because SureSmile offers a simple and elegant solution, you can kiss orthodontic emergencies goodbye. SureSmile is strong, durable, and won’t break.  SureSmile is Comfortable. We render SureSmile after a perfect 3D model of your teeth. Pressure will be evenly applied to all parts of the teeth, ensuring maximum comfort. With even pressure and no wires obstructing your mouth, SureSmile is superior in terms of comfort. SureSmile is Effective. SureSmile offers all the benefits of traditional methods and more benefits. With fewer lifestyle changes and a higher level of comfort, there’s a reason SureSmile is trending on Google Searches!  SureSmile is Faster. Traditional methods can take up to five years for desired results. Because SureSmile is more effective, treatment generally lasts only 12-18 months on average.   SureSmile Boosts Confidence. With SureSmile, you can blend in with the public, keep your lifestyle, and remove your aligners anytime. SureSmile is discreet, nearly invisible, and offers benefits in real time. What’s not to love?    SureSmile in Humble, Texas With SureSmile, it’s never been easier to get a straight smile! SureSmile offers an elegant solution to anybody who wishes to align their smile professionally and discreetly. What Qualifies as a Dental Emergency?

Dr. Tammie Thibodeaux and Dr. Katherine Price, and their skilled, friendly team will put their experience and professionalism to work for you. Whether you need restorative, preventative, cosmetic, or emergency dentist work, you’ll be satisfied with our quality care, attention to detail, and emphasis on comfort in Humble Emergency Dentist in TX.   What is a Dental Emergency? Your dental health is important to us. Therefore, we’d consider any dental problem, especially those that cause pain, a dental emergency.  If you question whether or not you need immediate dental care, you probably do. Contact Summer Creek Dental to answer any questions and offer advice. Some Common Dental Emergencies Include: Toothache from dental decay. Over time tooth decay will get worse unless treated. If tooth decay reaches the nerve, the pain may be severe.  Infection. It’s normal for gums to bleed occasionally and minimally while cleaning, such as flossing. If your gums are swollen and frequently bleeding in a specific area, you may have an infection.  When you least expect it, an infection might reach a “boiling point.” Swelling of the face, head, and neck is possible. An infection can be fatal, so you should treat it as quickly as possible, regardless of the time of day. Periodontal disease is a serious gum disease caused by bacteria in the gums. Plaque, tartar, and bacteria buildup cause inflammation of the gums that separate the teeth and gums. If left untreated, gum disease can progress to the point where it affects your teeth, gums, and jawbone. The condition can be quite painful, necessitating immediate dental treatment. Untreated periodontal disease can predispose individuals to several systemic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, oral and colorectal cancer, gastrointestinal diseases, respiratory tract infection, pneumonia, adverse pregnancy outcomes, diabetes and insulin resistance, and Alzheimer’s disease, among others. Metallic taste in your mouth. A filling or crown may have come loose if you taste something metallic. This shouldn’t be left untreated for too long to avoid infection or higher cavity risk.  Toothache from bruxism or teeth grinding. If you clench your teeth throughout the day or grind your teeth at night, it can cause toothache, hypersensitivity, and tooth damage. Broken, loose, and displaced teeth. Your teeth might crack and break, causing a lot of pain. In these instances, it’s usually preferable to get treatment as quickly as possible. We can replace fully-displaced teeth, including the root, in some situations, but you must get care as soon as possible.   What You Can Do at Home to Treat a Dental Emergency In general, you can do a few things at home to relieve any dental pain and promote healing. We only recommend these treatments until you can receive professional dental care.  Apply a hot, then cold compress to the cheek where the pain occurs. Take an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory or pain reliever such as Tylenol. Rinse with saltwater. Before taking a pain reliever, check on recommended types and doses with your doctor.    Here are some specific home-care treatments which can help: For broken, loose, and displaced teeth. If the displaced tooth is whole, make sure you handle the tooth by the crown (the top) and not by the root. Rinse it clean without scrubbing it, as it could damage the delicate root section. Place it back into the socket and keep it there until treatment. This can prevent the reattachment cells from dying.  If it doesn’t go back into the socket, putting the tooth in a cup of warm milk can sometimes keep it in good condition until you reach professional care. If a portion of your tooth has broken off, keep all the pieces you can locate and bring them to the dentist as soon as possible.   For infection. Rinse your mouth with a mild saltwater solution many times each day to relieve pain and encourage healing (half a teaspoon of table salt in eight ounces of water). Please get in touch with us as soon as possible to set up an appointment for treatment.   Summer Creek Dental Humble Emergency Dentist  Whether you need humble emergency dentist because of pain or a cosmetic concern such as a missing tooth, give our office a call day or night to reach one of our staff members who can triage your concerns and you get the proper treatment as soon as possible.  Contact us today. We’ll help you keep the pain away.

Everything You Need to Know About Dental Crowns

Are you worried about your teeth? Dental crowns are a great way to restore your teeth and make them look and feel amazing. A dental crown is a custom-made tooth that will match your natural teeth’ exact color and shape. The customization means that no one will even know that you have a dental crown in your mouth. Please schedule an appointment today with Summer Creek Dental, and let us get started on your dental crowns!   What are Dental Crowns? A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” placed over a tooth to cover it entirely and restore its shape and size. A crown may also be placed to improve the tooth’s appearance or protect a weak tooth from breaking. Crowns are made of metal, porcelain, or ceramic. Dental crowns can serve as anchor points to dental bridges and cover a dental implant.    What are the Benefits of Dental Crowns? There are many benefits of dental crowns. In addition to restoring your teeth, dental crowns can: Improve the appearance of your teeth Improve the function of your teeth Protect weak or damaged teeth Cover discolored or misshapen teeth   How Much Do Dental Crowns Cost? The cost of dental crowns will vary depending on the extent of your dental damage and the type of crown you choose. Porcelain or ceramic crowns are typically more expensive than metal crowns. However, porcelain and ceramic crowns are also more realistic, and we can match the color of your natural teeth. The best way to determine the cost of your dental crowns is to come in for a consultation in our dental facility in Humble, TX. After your evaluation, we’ll be able to estimate your costs accurately. We allow many forms of payment to ensure our affordable dental solutions are accessible to all our patients who need them. We also partner with CareCredit, a third-party dental financing organization.    How are Dental Crowns Installed? The process will begin with a consultation with Dr. Tammie Thibodeaux, or Dr. Katherine Price. We will thoroughly examine your teeth and gums and take any necessary x-rays. The goal is to gain an in-depth understanding of your dental condition so we can make some great recommendations, which may include dental crowns.  We will start by ensuring you are comfortable in our Humble, TX, dental facility for the crown placement. We will answer any questions about the process until you’re ready to begin. Once ready, we’ll prepare your tooth by removing any decayed or damaged tissue. Next, an impression will be made of your tooth so that the custom-made crown can be fabricated. We fabricate most crowns in our in-house lab. Our patients are able to return just a few short hours later and leave with their permanent crown(s) the same day! Sometimes, a crown(s) have to be sent to an outside lab, and in those cases, the patient will leave with a temporary and return 1-2 weeks later for the permanent restoration.    How to Care for Dental Crowns While crowns are strong and durable, they require special care to keep them looking their best. Here are a few tips for caring for your dental crowns: Brush twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Be sure to brush gently, as too much pressure can damage the crown. Floss daily to remove plaque and food debris from around the crown. Avoid chewing hard foods, such as ice or hard candy, which can damage the crown. See your dentist regularly for checkups and cleanings. Your dentist will also check to ensure the crown is functioning as expected.  Wear an occlusal guard (often called a night guard), if one was recommend for you, to protect your crown and/or adjacent teeth from fracture and wear. Following these simple tips will help you care for your dental crowns and keep them looking like new.   Dental Crowns in Humble, TX You’ll be able to smile confidently, knowing that you have beautiful, healthy teeth. With our dental crowns, you can have the smile you’ve always wanted in Humble. Please schedule an appointment today, and let us help you get started on restoring your smile.

It is important to seek dental care as soon as possible. You should first call Summer Creek Dental for emergency dental service. We will do what we can to schedule you an appointment. We can also help you assess whether you need emergency dental or urgent care at a hospital. During your appointment, the dentist will assess the damage to your tooth and develop a repair treatment plan. Depending on the break’s severity and treatment’s timing, we can often save the tooth and restore it to near-perfect condition. A good rule of thumb is to get to a dentist within an hour of the injury. The sooner you get to us, the better the chances we have to save the tooth. In the meantime, there are a few things you can do to relieve pain and protect your broken tooth. Rinse your mouth with warm water to clean the area around the broken tooth. You can also use a cold compress to help reduce swelling. If the break is sharp, you may want to cover it with sugarless gum or waxed floss to avoid irritating your gums. Save any loose tooth pieces and bring them with you to your appointment. In some cases, we can cement the piece back onto the tooth.  If your tooth has become completely displaced, try to fit it back into the tooth socket in your jaw (ensure it’s facing the right way!) You may need to rinse it off first, but avoid touching the sensitive root area containing very delicate tissues. If the tooth won’t go back into the socket, store it in a cup of milk or warm water and bring it with you to our office.   What to Expect from a Broken Tooth Repair Procedure in Humble When you come into our office for your appointment, we will take x-rays of the broken tooth to determine how to proceed with treatment. In some cases, we may be able to simply smooth out any jagged edges and then polish the tooth.  If the break is more severe, we may need to do a root canal to save the tooth. In other cases, we may need to extract the tooth.   How Much Does a Broken Tooth Repair Procedure Cost? The cost will vary depending on the extent of the damage and the type of procedure required. We will be able to give you a more accurate estimate after we have had a chance to look at your tooth.   Tips for Preventing Broken Teeth in the Future You can do a few things to help prevent broken teeth in the future. First, brush and floss regularly to keep your teeth strong and healthy. You should also see your dentist for regular checkups and cleanings. If you play sports, be sure to wear a mouthguard. And finally, avoid chewing on hard objects like ice or candy.   Don’t Wait – Call Us as Soon as Possible! You don’t have to live with the pain or inconvenience. Toothache Relief in Humble, Texas

Toothache Relief in Humble, Texas. A toothache is no fun and might be a more significant issue than you think. You may not need to be concerned if it goes away after a while, but why should you wait? What’s the harm in getting it checked out by a dentist? To schedule an appointment for the treatment you require, please contact Summer Creek Dental. We’ll make sure your teeth are healthy and help you get rid of that toothache once and for all.   Your Toothache Might Be Serious If the pain lasts longer than a day or two, it might be severe. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us as soon as possible if it does, or if you’re experiencing persistent, sharp, intense, or throbbing tooth pain, swelling or bleeding in the area of the tooth or gums, fever, chills, earache, or chest tightness or pain. It might result from tooth decay, infection, a damaged tooth, gum disease, or something caught in the teeth or gums. Even if it’s not a serious problem now, minor issues can escalate into larger ones.  Practicing regular oral hygiene is the most effective way to avoid tooth problems. Brushing and flossing are required every day to remove plaque and tartar, sources of gum disease. Your diet should also be well-balanced. Sugary and acidic foods and beverages do not have to avoid them entirely, but you should consume them in moderation. Please make an appointment with us at least twice a year for a dental checkup. We can detect issues before they become severe and slow down or remove issues that have already started.    Some Toothache Relief Tips Until you get the professional dental care you need, you might try some home-remedy tips. Clean, floss, and treat the painful area around the tooth and gums to remove food or plaque stuck between your teeth. You might try massaging aloe vera juice on your gums with a clean finger. Warm salt water rinses can also help eliminate debris between your teeth, disinfect your mouth, and relieve irritation. Rinsing with an antiseptic mouthwash can also help. Rinse for 30 seconds before spitting.   A pain reliever and anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen may be the most effective over-the-counter medication for treating toothache. Check the product recommendations and consult your doctor on use. It can also help to apply a warm, moist compress to the exterior of the painful area for five minutes. Apply a cold compress to the same area until it feels numb. Repeat a few times more until you feel better. And try to keep your head elevated at night. When you lie down, more blood rushes to your head. Laying flat could worsen toothache by increasing pressure, sensitivity, and pain.    Professional Toothache Relief Dr. Tammie Thibodeaux and Dr. Katherine Price can provide the safest, most effective toothache treatment. Simple steps, such as cleaning and reducing inflammation, can sometimes alleviate dental pain. Occasionally, we’ll discover something lodged between your teeth, such as a bit of popcorn kernel. Your tooth and surrounding gums should begin to recover and feel better immediately after removing the foreign object. If your pain is caused by tooth decay, we can easily cure it. If you have tooth decay in its early stages, such as a little cavity, we may recommend a filling. A root canal may be the best option with more advanced tooth decay. An infected tooth’s inside can be treated by the root canal. The procedure eliminates the tooth’s infected interior, including blood vessels and nerves, bringing complete pain relief. We then disinfect, reshape, and harden the tooth interior. If we cannot save the tooth, we may extract it. We can achieve this while maintaining the highest level of anesthetic comfort. Following the extraction, we can replace the missing tooth with dentures, implants, or bridges, among other dental solutions.   Toothache Relief in Humble, Texas Avoiding a toothache is easy as long as you take good care of your teeth. However, tooth problems and toothache are possibilities for anyone at any time. We can help with toothache relief in Humble at Summer Creek Dental. We’re highly experienced in treating toothache with comfort and quality results.  Please get in touch with us today to schedule a consultation.

Wisdom Teeth Removal in Humble, TX Summer Creek Dental | Humble Texas Dentist

Wisdom Teeth Removal in Humble, TX

Removal of your wisdom teeth may be recommended, as leaving those teeth in place can cause problems. Wisdom teeth are generally not needed. Over time, as the average jaw size has decreased with each generation, many patients don’t have room for wisdom teeth. That is why we may recommend wisdom teeth removal in Humble, TX.   The Last Ones to the Party  Wisdom teeth are generally the last of all your teeth to form and to erupt. By this time, your other teeth are usually already in place. Therefore, the movement of the wisdom teeth can crowd the teeth which are already there, and there is little to no space left for the wisdom teeth to come in.    When Should I Have My Wisdom Teeth Removed? Wisdom teeth tend to move into place as early as 15, but each patient is different. Wisdom teeth may erupt at different ages for other patients, sometimes as late as 25. Wisdom teeth don’t generally start to come in until you’re between 16 and 18 years of age.  It may be beneficial to remove wisdom teeth early when possible. When you’re younger, around age 15, your jaw may heal faster and more effectively than when you’re older. The procedure may also be more manageable in younger patients because the surrounding bone is less dense and the tooth roots are not yet fully formed. Space left behind by the extracted tooth may fill with new bone more effectively than with older patients, and younger patients may generally recover faster from the procedure.  Yet, older patients can’t also have their wisdom teeth removed. They can and often do. The procedure can be safely and effectively performed in both younger and older patients.    What May Happen if I Don’t Have My Wisdom Teeth Removed? Wisdom teeth can cause several problems, including: Gum infection Tooth infection Tooth decay The wisdom teeth can crowd the other teeth. When a wisdom tooth is pressing into the side of another tooth, the second tooth can begin to dissolve in addition to being overcrowded.  The wisdom tooth can be covered by or “impacted” by bone or gum tissue when the tooth comes in at an angle, not fully protruding from the jaw bone or gum tissue. When the tooth is partially covered by gum tissue, it can be challenging to clean. Debris can collect under the gum.  Impacted wisdom teeth can cause pain and swelling and complicate the removal process. When the teeth grow at an angle, spaces might form which can trap food. Over time, these spaces can build plaque and other harmful substances. Plaque makes it difficult to clean teeth.     What is the Wisdom Teeth Removal Process? Wisdom teeth removal is generally performed while the patient is under anesthesia. After the patient is comfortable and ready, the doctor will fold back the gum tissue covering the affected area and possibly remove some bone surrounding the tooth. The dentist can then extract the tooth using specialized tools. The dentist may place a bone substitute in the space left behind by the extracted tooth. Now, the healing process can begin.    How Long Does it Take to Recover From Wisdom Teeth Removal? In most cases, a wisdom tooth extraction procedure takes just a few hours. It would be best if you planned on having someone available to drive you home from the appointment, as it may take you some time to recover from the anesthesia effects. If possible, you should take it easy for at least a couple of days, resting as often as possible and eating only soft foods such as yogurt and ice cream. Your recovery time could be as long as two weeks.  During recovery, keep the Summer Creek Dental team posted. We want to make sure you’re comfortable during the healing process. Your dentist will monitor any excessive pain. We can recommend methods for keeping you as comfortable as possible during recovery.    Let the Specialists Take a Look Wisdom teeth removal is a somewhat invasive procedure. There are risks associated with any surgery, so it may make more sense to avoid it, depending on your situation.   It is possible that a wisdom tooth ultimately impacted by bone will not cause any problems and will not need to be removed. It may not be necessary to remove wisdom teeth in other cases. Some patients will have a jaw structure that can support the extra wisdom teeth.   It’s important to have Dr. Tammie Thibodeaux, Dr. Samer Dar, or Dr. Katherine Price at Summer Creek Dental evaluate your situation and make a recommendation. Call today to make a wisdom tooth removal consultation appointment in Humble, Texas! You’ll see the wisdom in our recommendation and the quality of our care.

Invisalign for Teens Summer Creek Dental | Humble Texas Dentist

Invisalign for Teens

If your teens are looking to get a straighter smile, come to Summer Creek Dental in Humble, Texas. We will work with you as we formulate our recommendations to straighten your teeth. What matters to you is also important to us. Invisalign is a fantastic solution that we highly recommend. Invisalign is a clear aligner that is safe, effective, easy to use, and inconspicuous.   Which Braces Type is Right for Me? Metal braces are more visible than clear aligners. So if your teens are looking to straighten your teeth discreetly, Invisalign might be the better option. Many people find Invisalign to be a more comfortable alternative to metal braces. They’re made to fit over your teeth perfectly without being intrusive. You may even forget they’re wearing them.    Get Started With Invisalign For Your Teens Invisalign is a tried and true method of straightening teeth. Your teens will appreciate how simple it is to use. Clear aligners are nice because they’re straightforward and effective. In most cases, you can expect to finish treatment and have a completely functional, attractive smile in about 24 months.   What is the Invisalign Process? We’ll begin with an initial consultation. Dr. Tammie Thibodeaux or Dr. Katherine Price and their courteous, competent staff will sit down with you to discuss your issues. We’ll make suggestions for correcting any malocclusions or misalignments. Together, we’ll devise a strategy and treatment plan. We’ll take molds of your teeth once you are ready to begin. Your dentist will create an impression to make a prescription that they will send to Invisalign. Invisalign will sculpt multiple aligner sets utilizing 3D modeling technology. They’ll design the aligners from the most up-to-date, sophisticated materials to ensure maximum comfort. The aligners will be transparent, stain-resistant, and simple to clean. Once we receive your aligners, we will have you come pick them up and your treatment is ready to begin. Each aligner set will bring your teeth closer to the final goal, a little bit at a time. They gently guide the teeth set by the group.   It’s Easy to Use Invisalign It’s simple to put them on. You will pop them into your mouth and apply minimal pressure to put them in place. You will wear the aligners for 22 hours out of every 24. Your teens won’t mind wearing them because you’ll hardly notice they’re there. Plus, when you smile, others likely won’t see them either because they’re clear. You can take them out to eat, drink, or brush and floss your teeth. Throughout the procedure, there will be periodic checkups. We’ll make sure your teeth are moving in the right direction. We’ll address any worries or discomfort you may have about the therapy process (which are rare for clear aligners).   How Much Does Invisalign Cost? We’ll sit down with you at Summer Creek Dentistry in Humble to discuss your dental concerns and treatment options.
