We only recommend these treatments until you can receive professional dental care.  Apply a hot, then cold compress to the cheek where the pain occurs. Take an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory or pain reliever such as Tylenol. Rinse with saltwater. Before taking a pain reliever, check on recommended types and doses with your doctor.    Here are some specific home-care treatments which can help: For broken, loose, and displaced teeth. If the displaced tooth is whole, make sure you handle the tooth by the crown (the top) and not by the root. Rinse it clean without scrubbing it, as it could damage the delicate root section. Place it back into the socket and keep it there until treatment. This can prevent the reattachment cells from dying.  If it doesn’t go back into the socket, putting the tooth in a cup of warm milk can sometimes keep it in good condition until you reach professional care. If a portion of your tooth has broken off, keep all the pieces you can locate and bring them to the dentist as soon as possible.   For infection. Rinse your mouth with a mild saltwater solution many times each day to relieve pain and encourage healing (half a teaspoon of table salt in eight ounces of water).
